JEWELRY CARE

silver 925

skötselråd silversmycken, hur tar jag hand om mina silver-smycken? jewelry care sterlingsilver. cleaning silver 925 jewelry

Wear the silver jewelry as much as possible! Shower with it,

practice yoga with it, live with it!

Basically: the more you use the piece, the shinier it gets.

Store your silver jewelry in a box or seal it in a small plastic bag,

to prevent from oxidation.

If you put several jewelry pieces together, that are made from different metals, you'll most likely have a layer of oxidation over time. Same thing might happen if you hang them on a hook in your wardrobe/room,

or put them on a little plate:

the air + the chemical reactions will make the silver look ”dusty”.

oxidized silver

jewelry care oxidized silver. oxiderat silver, hur bevarar jag oxideringen? kan jag oxidera mina silverringar. oxidera silver.

Oxidized silver, is silver 925 (sterling silver), that has a layer of oxidation on top.

The oxidation wears off over time, leaving the dents

and the deep parts of the jewelry piece dark,

while the outer surfaces get shinier over time.

I work a lot with this patina on my hammered creations.

If you wish to have a silver piece

oxidized or re-oxidized, just reach out and I'll do it at DDsthlm for a small cost.

18k gold

If treated right, gold jewelry

can last for lifetimes...

18k gold, that all DDsthlm

pieces are made of,

is a perfect alloy for jewelry,

as it's  a bit harder than 24k.

Keep your pieces longlasting by:

Storing your jewelry in boxes.

Take off while cleaning

(chlorine weakens the structure + household cleaners with acids/abrasives damages your jewelry’s finish).

Remove while playing high-contact sports.

Put your jewelry on last when getting ready: makeup, perfume, hairspray and lotions can damage your gold.

Take jewelry off before bathing to prevent buildup of soap, which will cause a film

on your jewelry.

crystal care

skötselråd kristaller. caring for your crystal jewelry

Each crystal and gemstone carry

unique energy and wisdom.

All gemstones have hardness

1-10 on Mohs’ scale

(diamond is the hardest with 10).

Treat your gemstones like you would a best friend! If a gemstone is smashed/dropped repeatedly, it'll break or get inclusions over time. Always be mindful when wearing your magical talismans.

To charge/program a crystal,

I recommend meditating with it. Then create a ritual where you state your dream, affirmation, or divine message as you connect

with the crystal.

If you wish to reset/cleanse your crystal, put it out in the full moon light/lay it by the window to soak up sun/moon light.

Some gemstones are more

vulnerable than others, please reach out if you need assistance.

If you need to have your jewelry pieces cleaned, you can send it/drop it off , at DDsthlm for a a little ”spa-treatment” to small cost.

Or, do one of the following things:

1. buy a specific polish cloth for your meatl  - you can find it in most jewelry stores and hard ware stores.

2. If you wish to use a more gentle method for SILVER or BRASS: buy CITRIC ACID in the supermarket (usually found in the spice department)
- boil water and pour in a cup
- put the jewelry piece in the cup (do NOT mix metals!)
- sizzle a generous amount of citric acid on top
- stir and leave til it’s cold
- rinse in cold water
